Observations

As my observations and comments on the episodes continue, I now come to Fire on the Wing:

- My hopes that Rachel was young enough for Jesse to be interested in were mercilessly dashed in this episode. She's dating an old guy whose daughter is old enough to date Jesse.

- I can't believe some of the ultralight flying in this episode was safe, there are some shots where it looks like they nearly clipped the ground or trees.

- Lock your doors: At the ultralight hangars, Eddie walks up to Jesse's Mustang and opens the unlocked car door to find his police badge.

Favorite Quotes:

"Let me know if you find anything, Bernie"

"Don't worry, if I do find something, you'll hear me scream."

What occured to me watching a snippet of this episode the other night was when Jesse was up in the ultralite. Not only was it a crazy, seat of your pants stunt which looked exceptionally dangerous, but it occured just how exceptional (or should that be reckless) an individual Jesse was. Anyone else would have been heavily shook up after a near death encounter like that. He manages to land the craft safely in the middle of a kid's volleyball match, and gets the time to get out a joke, "But it isn't even my serve!" LMAO
I think like most young guys Jesse thought he was invulnerable so the brush with death was a bit of a buzz for him. Amazing after he is almost crippled in an accident, has to push paper around an office for life, looses friends who were like him and yet he still takes risks. He must be extremely brave or extremely foolish. Maybe a bit of both.

I honestly can't believe that they would let Jesse up in one of those things without any formal training. That guy from The Terminator (Earl Boen) just gets Jesse to fill in a few forms and let's him fly around LA in it? There's no way that would happen!

I was also unsure if that guy was in on trying to kill Jesse. Obviously that guy with the lantern jaw was (Jere Burns) but I'm not sure about t'other.

Yeah, pretty silly. I almost guarantee you'd need to have had at least 10 hours worth of flight experience to go up in one alone and there'd be strict laws about flighing over a city.
I only assume they bypassed the usual protocols because they wanted to get Jesse up there to kill him.
I used to live near the stunt man who did the microlight stunts in James Bond. He'd be constantly flighing over the village...

I think you hit it on the nail. That's pretty much how I see Jesse as well. He doesn't want to slow down and have to think about his mortality or the loss of those around him. While this prevents him from having to think too much about his pain, it does make him quite brash and foolish at times.

Anyone notice that when he presses his button to fire the bike's machine guns, he nearly breaks a little button's cover off? :) It's near the end when they are chasing the girl, and the guy in the jeep shoots at him, and then Jessy shoots back with SH's machine gun, and because the row of buttons is so long.. he has to reach with his thumb, and his hand nearly breaks off the first button in the row.

Also, not only did he leave his car unlocked, but he really shouldn't leave his badge in the car! Thats surely the kind of thing a cop should always carry.

Also, the bad guys leave the girl unattended in the back of their car, and they leave the keys in the ignition :P Not the best move.

The old guy whose business is being threatened, is one of the most annoying characters ever! He has a really wierd whistley voice and a strange look on his face all the time. He annoyed me for some reason. Strange that the younger woman was attracted to him.. He just looked old and stiff to me.

And yeah, they must have had stunt pilots or something because some of that ultralight flying looks really dangerous.

The bike looks really cool in this epsiode. At the end when everyone is dead/disabled, and the girl is getting out of the car and trying to take her ropes off, Jessy jumps over a little hill on the bike and then stops right at the car. It looks like he cut it close and almost drove into the car :P But it looked cool.

My favourite quote has to be:
I don't know who you are, or what you are... but I think you're wonderful.

Lol :)

Don't tell BadGuy this, but I just noticed the villian who flies the ultralight looks kind of like Joe Cannon from The Adjuster.

Regarding some of telove's comments, I didn't think the old businessman was a bad actor, although I agree his facial expressions looked odd at times, almost like he'd had a stroke in the past. But I thought it worked, almost like scars from the emotional damage of losing his wife in the past. Also, regarding his age vs. Rachel, that's probably more real than I'd like to admit. Older, successful men date younger women all the time. But I hated it just because I'm a big Rachel fan, and it just made her look like a gold digger. It also bugged me that Jesse didn't seem to have any jealous feelings when she was hooking up with the guy, which put a big damper on my hopes that they had some sort of chemistry together.
