So pristine, I almost don't want to see you modify it. But if you get it right, that would be really cool.

Why is it most of the surviving Ghibli's are smalls? Maybe they were bought as back-ups for the girlfriend and therefore got light use?

I never have (and likely never will) drive or ride on a motorcycle, but even I would love to have a black Ghibli.

Oh noooo, its a girls helmet  . Seriously tho I am taking lots of time to mod the helmet to get it right. There'll be lots of trial and error before I'm happy to start sticking bits to it. I agree it looks cool as it is but I've been wanting a SH helmet for over 20 yrs!

DISASTER!!!!! unfortunetly the test tint sprays let me down and despite my best efforts the visor is not as good as I wanted it. There is a bit of 'crazing' but I wont give up. Here are some shots of the mock up using paper templates and stick on buttons.

That doesn't look like a disaster to me. The bottom right corner of the visor does need some touch-up, but overall it looks good.

So far the mock-ups look spot on. Love the 3 buttons! That part couldn't look better.

Thanks pentastar, I'll try and make the visor look better next week (back to work at 7am tomorrow  ) and start sculpting the addons. I plan to make them from DAS clay then cast the parts from 'waterclear' resin. wish me luck!

That's better! 2 more attempts later and thats as good as it gets for me. BTW I managed to win a genuine black ghibli with the 'factory' tinted visor, medium size ($32, e-bay). So If I do ever buy / build the bike I'll wear one and have one for display, (my lovely wife is'nt as thrilled as me  ). Next week I'll post pics of the add ons. Cheers everyone. ( less than 2 weeks before the DVD box set arrives!!!). Jon.

Hot dog! That looks nice! I don't know if you already said so or not, but where did you get that stand? If I was going to buy a Ghibli and display it, I'd do it exactly like that.

Now that you have a second one coming, I bet that gives you a little more room to breath as you work up the first one. Like, "Well, if I screw this up, at least I have another one to enjoy." Not that you're going to screw it up, I think it looks great so far.

Keep us posted as you go along.

Thanks pentastar. I got the stand from 'just-in-case-co' Ebay uk for £12. They do all sorts of stands really meant for military hats etc, but I liked the fact that its see through so it does'nt distract from the helmet. More to come.

Looks good! Can't wait to see it after you get the add-ons put on.
