its gotten to the point where i cant keep up anymore. I am debating whether to make the forum read only and just point people to a facebook group. anyone have any other ideas?

UGH...I for one would hate that. I'm not a Facebook user, nor do I intend to be one.

Me to this is THE fan forum for the entire world. It would be a shame to loose it.

This forum is a proper treasure trove of information, I've learnt so much from it. Could you make it so that any new user has to be moderated by you first, to verify genuine email address etc?

I just updated my settings not to allow PM's anymore thanks to all the survey spam.

It should be easy to delete that users account, and to block his user name and ID. At least it is on my own forum, but it's ProBoards.

Any suggestions on what to do? Unfortunately, I dont have time to setup another board or keep up with the spam. I have all of the built in countermeasures in place, but they arent effective. As of now, the forum is closed to new registrations. :(

I did an update to the forum and installed new spam countermeasures. Hopefully it will stop the spam.

It sucks when it's a fan-run form with someone putting in their own time and effort. For what it's worth, the spam doesn't both me particularly, certainly not enough to make the board not worth visiting.

I'm with Scott. I'm not a Facebook user. Glad to hear you've been able to update the spam settings.
