Andy Probert discusses Street Hawk

Post by scott » Tue Jan 28, 2020 3:37 pm

I shot this video way back in 2005 of Andy Probert giving a talk at Wonderfest about his work on various projects. Most of the talk centers on Galactica and Trek, but he touches on Street Hawk just after the 22 minute mark.

LOL!!! Not in the Street Hawk suit please!!

He doesn't talk a ton about Street Hawk, he was a super nice guy. I chatted with him for a few minutes as he was signing my photo of Rex on the pilot bike. I could have talked with him for hours, but didn't want to take time away from other fans.

Very nice Scott. Thanks for posting that.

Interestingly, the pilot bike shown has the same "stunt" tank electronics graphic display as would later be seen on the square-nosed/high-tailed "Second Self" version of the bike.

You are welcome. :)

I shot that with my old SONY Digital Handycam, and I've had the camera put away for years but all the tapes were packed away in another spot. I ran across them not long ago and wanted to share it with everyone.

I never noticed the "Second Self" bike having any panels, can you see that in the episode? Or did you discover that by other means?

In the famous photo shoot of the Second Self bike parked in the street (the side shot is much more commonly-posted than the rear shot), the rear shot clearly shows the stunt tank panel beneath a clear acrylic overlay. A screen cap from the episode also shows a portion of this stunt tank display.

See this thread that I made years ago dedicated to the Second Self bike. I just re-uploaded all of the pictures: http://www.streethawkonline.com/Forum/v ... 7599#p7599

The hero bike owned by Chris Bromham, and which is now in Orlando, FL, had a stunt upper display, which consisted of a flat panel with a graphic overlay that could be backlit, but which didn't actually have any functional LEDs or a working central monitor screen underneath.

Oh thanks for the link with those photo's! The last 3 I had never seen before, and I wasn't aware that the original bike the went over to the UK had any panels. All the photo's when it was for sale just had empty spots, in the weapons panel/dash areas. How I so wish I would have had the 12K when Andy offered it to me.
