Street Hawk Diostory - Next Chapters Coming Soon!

Post by pentastar » Wed Nov 29, 2006 1:36 pm

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to let you all know I had a very productive Thanksgiving. I finished taking all the pictures for chapters 6 & 7 of my Street Hawk diostory. So I can say with some certainty that you should be seeing these chapters before Christmas!

Just to give you an idea of what to look forward to in the next few chapters, in Chapter 6 we will see Norman's progress building a new Street Hawk, but we will also see that The Apocalypse are going to be a direct threat to the success of the new Street Hawk project. In Chapter 7 you can look forward to some motocross-style action with a deadly twist thanks to The Apocalypse.

If you can't tell already, I'm very excited about these next two chapters and sharing them with you. I really hope you enjoy them!

What you've done already is coming along beautifully Scott. Very well done. Looking forward to seeing the next installments.
It obviously gives you great pleasure to do and it must be just as good to see the fruits of your hard work as it is for us.
This sort of thing is very kitschy.
I'd love to see audio & music done for it, and then the whole thing filmed and put it on Yahoo Videos or You Tube etc. That'd obviously take a whole lot more time and editing/filming ability and I know you don't want to take it quite as far as that! ;)
Still, it's just as good being able to see it and read it here. (If we had lived closer I'd have loved to come and help you with it, but you seem to be doing fine on your own!)

Good work.

Thanks so much Dan!

Yes, this endeaver really does bring me pleasure. But like any artist (and I'm using that term loosely) I do hope that my work is enjoyed and appreciated. So your compliments do mean a lot to me and I thank you for it.

You mentioned that my work was "kitchy". Being American, my vocabulary is limited ("Me fail English? That's unpossible!") with a strong preference for monosyllabic words, so I had to look up "kitchy" on wikipedia. At first when I read the definition I thought you were insulting me:

"Kitsch is a German term that has been used to categorize art that is considered an inferior copy of an existing style. The term is also used more loosely in referring to any art that is pretentious or in bad taste, and also commercially produced items that are considered trite or crass." :o

But as I kept reading, I think this was the meaning you intended (at least I hope it was):

"Though kitsch and kitschy may be terms used to criticize, the term is sometimes used as a compliment as well, with some finding kitschy artwork to be enjoyable for its "retro" value or unintentional, ironic humor or garishness."

I'd love to see audio & music done for it, and then the whole thing filmed and put it on Yahoo Videos or You Tube etc. That'd obviously take a whole lot more time and editing/filming ability and I know you don't want to take it quite as far as that!
I've said before, it is a fantasy of mine to be able to do this sort of thing in stop-action and post it on YouTube. However, I do have a job and a family, both of which would fire me if I devoted as much time as I'd like to my project. The other problem would be getting voice actors. I'm not Michael Winslow so I can't sound like 10 different people, nor do I sound convincing as Norman or Jesse.

Now, I if I could quit my job and I had a budget, I'd go out and hire Rex Smith & Joe Regalbuto to do some voice acting for me and go nuts.

Awww, who am I kidding...if I had enough money I'd just pay a production crew to film new episodes of Street Hawk. ;)

If we had lived closer I'd have loved to come and help you with it, but you seem to be doing fine on your own!
That would be a blast, too bad we live on seperate continents. I actually travelled for Chapter 7, which was filmed at my in-laws house during Thanksgiving weekend. (I found a nice patch of dirt for the motorcross scenes. And it gave me an excuse to get out of the house!) As I continue on in the story it may be necessary to go to new locations from time to time because the backyard in my house is very limited. Still, I'm a little nervous about being seen anywhere public filming for my diostory. People look at you funny when they see a grown man taking pictures of action figures in the dirt.

The sacrifices I make for you people :'(

Just kidding, I love doing this, and thank you for letting me share it with you!

Rex Smith is finally updating his website. A link has been added to contact him to perform at your event or special occasion. He is available for work. ;D

LoL. You yanks, when will you realise that English is both complicated and totally and utterably contradictory! LoL ;)
Yes, that's what I meant that it was very retro and appealing, nothing else!

Hey Dan,

I hope you don't mind, but I sent Rex a request for an interview. I figure since I live fairly close to him there might be a chance he'd say "yes". I'll let you know if I hear anything back from Rex/Sheila.

No, I don't mind at all. I see it like this, if as many of us ask as possible, ONE of us might just succeed, I'm not bothered if that is you or it is me. I just would love to get Rex here, JUST ONCE, and get a definitive interview.
